Less Stuff. More Heart. – In this age of consumer culture, excessiveness and glut, a prolific numbers of images saturate our screens, our cities and our culture. By the minute, by the hour, day to day and to the point where the very means of communication relies more heavily on the image than it ever has in the past (think advertising and social media). So what effect has this had on photography as an art form? Has it lost some substance, lost its voice? Has it been redefined? As a photographer why should our work be noticed amongst the masses and how does it compete?
We have called this workshop “Less Stuff More Heart” – We All Start As Strangers – it is our affirmation and a philosophy that presents some answers to these questions amongst our seemingly chaotic culture. We invite you to reflect, (re) discover and grow over four weeks that will challenge you to refine your practice that will ultimately give you more confidence and purpose to what you do.
Starting on Tuesday the 27th of January 2015 and running weekly until 17th of February 2015.
This class is about self reflection, taking a step back from the lens, a simplistic approach to ones camera and from there moving beyond the technical and finding your own inner craft.
Cost: $395 (4 x 3 hour sessions)
Venue : POET’S ODE
